People ready to donate eyes, but not skin: Doctors at government-run Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru  Times of India

BENGALURU: Out of every ten bereaved families that the staff of south India’s only skin bank reach out to, only two agree to donate their departed relative’s skin. The rest though would agree to donate eyes, but not skin. Bank employees attribute this to stigma and lack of awareness. No wonder, the skin bank started in 2016 at government-run Victoria Hospital, has seen only 99 cadaver skin donations so far.
