On several occasions, I have visited patients in a Shreveport hospital’s heart transplant unit. This unit was filled with patients who were at the point of death and whose only hope for life was a new heart. So to stay alive, they were under the constant care of a cardiologist, and were being kept in readiness for immediate transplant surgery.
